TGIF and welcome to my curated list of Day of the Dead home and kitchen favorites. Day of the Dead will soon arrive so don’t be unprepared and stock up now on all of your sugar skull needs! Day of the Dead (also known as Dia de los Muertos) falls on November 2nd. There is a belief that the spirits of the dead visit families on October 31st and leave on November 2nd. This is a day to celebrate the life of those who are no longer with us and to honor them. These home and kitchen items can be used specifically for the holiday or if you are like me and love skulls, these items are fantastic for year-round use.
TGIF! It is Friday so you know what that means… FRIDAY FAVES! This week I am so thrilled to present to you the line of Halloween Fiesta items available at Macy’s. I have a huge addiction to Fiestaware. I recently got my first set of Fiesta products in the summer and I am head over heels in love with it all. If you are looking for beautiful and durable dinnerware, Fiesta is the way to go. This is a shopping guide to the best Halloween items available.
Halloween is hands down one of my favorite times of the year. It is a time to cut loose and have some fun. Last year my family was a pack of rainbow unicorns. This year my daughter is going out as a creepy babydoll in one of my favorite vintage dresses.
What I love most about the Fiesta line of dinnerware [obviously] is the vibrant, stunning colors. These really do stand out in your cupboard and make you want to grab one and use it for your next meal. Also, when I have guests over for dinner they often compliment about how magnificent the plates are. They truly are dazzling. Another great thing about these plates that I have is the durability of them. These plates have a very nice weight to them and feel very sturdy. Want to know something great? They come with a 5-year chip warranty. So if these get chipped within a five-year range Fiesta will have your back. You know you are getting some reliable dinnerware that will last for years to come when there is a guarantee like that.
I have a confession to make. I am addicted to my donut pan! I picked one up last weekend at Mile’s Cake and Candy Supplies in Clinton Township and I am so glad that I did. It is so much fun to work in the kitchen with my daughter making these healthy-ish gluten-free baked donuts. I went with a 6-cavity donut pan from Wilton. Wilton is a trusted source when it comes to baking supplies so I felt very confident purchasing this pan for the Give It A Whirl Girl kitchen. I did not use this pan for the recipe below but it would be best going with this pan. I used a flexible heart-shaped silicone mold with the donuts in the recipe and they were difficult to remove from the mold. So trust me here, go with a Wilton pan. You will thank me later. The cooking times are the same for either pan.
