Looking to feed your hungry family some pizza that is something other than ordinary? This Extreme Pizza review will tell you how can achieve that with some fun and exciting pizza flavors that this pizza chain has. The whole entire “does pineapple belong on pizza” movement can move over and step aside because at Extreme Pizza they are bold enough to put mandarin oranges on pizza! Yes, I said mandarin oranges, and those can be found on one of their signature gourmet pizzas The Paia Pie. Ok so I know you might be thinking that oranges on pizza does not sound very appealing but guess what… if you allow yourself to eat freely and with a very open mind you will see that yes, mandarin oranges do belong on pizza! My Extreme Pizza Review

This was not our first time at this Grosse Pointe pizza place. We have been here several times before. We live one city over in St. Clair Shores and the little extra drive is worth it to get to this unique Grosse Pointe pizza establishment. I consider this place to be a hidden gem and I am so happy I discovered it a few years back. This Grosse Pointe pizza place has a menu that builds up excitement in me. There are so many excellent choices here and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them! Extreme Pizza is known to consistently serve up pizzas that do not disappoint!

Extreme Pizza Menu

Extreme Pizza has quite the exciting menu board! Their menu features 16 Carnivore signature pizzas and 10 Veggin Out pizzas. Their menu has something for everyone and also includes pizzas for the adventurous eater. While you are able to create your very own build-your-own pizza here, I highly recommend giving their signature pizzas a whirl. At our most recent visit, we ordered my favorite, The Boar’der (my pick) and my husband chose the Yard Sale.

Here are the ingredients that were on these two pizzas:

The Boar’der: Shredded pork marinated in a sweet BBQ sauce, red onions, fresh cilantro, cheddar and mozzarella.

The Yard Sale: Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, black olives, fresh mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, vine ripe tomatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar.

You can view their entire menu here or check out the images below.

Warm Sunbutter & Raspberry Jelly Sandwich On Bob’s Red Mill Bread

Bob’s Red Mill Wonderful Gluten-Free bread mix once again over here in the Give It A Whirl Girl Kitchen. This time I was craving a peanut butter & jelly sandwich so I ventured into the kitchen to make my own loaf of bread. I also had some jars of Sunbutter Sunflower Seed Spread that I needed to try out and a jar of Herkner Farms Champagne Raspberry Preserves that I picked up at Devries & Company 1887. I had all of my ingredients and all I kept thinking about was how this would be the greatest wannabe peanut butter & jelly sandwich of all time. This was my first time giving Sunbutter a whirl and I was so excited to try it.

Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Wonderful Bread, with Sunbutter, and champagne raspberry jelly sandwich

It all starts with Bob’s Red Mill

Oh boy… I am blogging about this Wonderful Bread Mix once again! Let me tell you this… this gluten-free mix truly is wonderful and that is why it is in the name of the product. I have a problem getting my gluten-free breads to fluff up when I use my own recipe and ingredients. Maybe it is just me but my gluten-free bread do not rise up much. Bob’s Red Mill does include a yeast packet with the mix and that is probably why this mix results in a soft and fluffy loaf with the perfect bread crust. I had a wonderful feeling that this fluffy bread would pair well with my Organic Sunbutter Spread.

Amped Up Grilled Cheese RECIPE With Dave’s Killer Bread & Tomato Soup

I know… I know… she’s lost her mind writing her first recipe about a grilled cheese and tomato soup BUT I just had to. It’s a hot day here in Michigan. I was hungry. I had a craving. It may not even be a recipe but more like a fabulous insider tip on how to maximize the taste of your meal. Check out what I did with a loaf of Dave’s Killer Bread and some Annie’s Organic Tomato Soup!

35972726_10156435405929420_8875746403347857408_n

I don’t usually purchase loaves of bread (been trying to keep the carbs down low) but Dave’s Killer Bread is the most beautiful bread I have every laid my eyes upon. Seriously… bread… beautiful??? Trust me on this guys. I am also a firm believer in #noboringgrilledcheese. I made up that hashtag by the way. I can’t use a boring white loaf of bread and that plastic-like American cheese. I guess I am a grilled cheese snob. Call me what you will!

I went with the 21 Whole Grains & Seeds loaf. Dave’s Killer Bread uses all organic ingredients. This particular loaf has 5 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, omega 3s, and a huge assortment of whole grains all jam packed into one slice.

I started out by brushing a bit of some melted Organic Valley ghee (it is a clarified butter) onto the bread. I mixed in a bit of garlic powder and Italian seasonings into the melted ghee to pump up the flavor of the bread. Who doesn’t love garlic bread?

I then laid on a couple slices of Sargento Tomato & Basil Jack cheese. I really love the Italian flavors of this cheese. Perfect to go with my garlic bread that I just whipped up.

Got my grilled cheese all prepped and ready to go. I spray my pan with some Simple Truth Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil.

Now it is time to warm up with Annie’s Organic Creamy Tomato And Bunny Pasta soup. I doctored this soup up by grinding up some garlic salt and peppercorns into it, along with some Italian seasonings and crushed red pepper flakes. This soup is great on its own but I like to add my own little twist to it.

You will want to set your burner on medium and warm the grilled cheese up for a few minutes. Make sure you flip it too so both sides get that golden touch to it. You will know when the grilled cheese is done. It has to be nice and melty. I don’t do anything fancy at this point. It really is no different than warming up a plain grilled cheese.

Now it is time to plate your grilled cheese masterpiece and scarf it down. I really should have slowed down while eating this and savored it more but it was just so damn tasty. Oh and don’t forget to dip that amped up sandwich into your creamy tomato soup. Enjoy this for lunch or dinner and I do believe this would be super kid-friendly, especially with that adorable bunny pasta in the soup.

I would like to know how do you prepare your grilled cheese at home? Do you have any secret recipe you would like to share? Is there a special bread that you enjoy? Let me know in the comments.
