My 38th birthday on February 23rd may have come and gone but the wonderful memories will remain of my awesome birthday dinner with family at Terry’s Terrace in Harrison Township, Michigan. I have dined at Terry’s Terrace a couple of times in the past and I was so impressed with my experience I had to go back. If you are looking for a seafood dish of excellence then Terry’s Terrace is the restaurant that you will want to dive into! This Terry’s Terrace review will go into detail about my seafood birthday dinner at this establishment. Unfortunately, I can’t have alcohol at this point in time of my life so I am unable to discuss that but it does appear to be that this place has an incredible bar. If you want to hear about their food, though, you are in the right place. Also, keep reading to find out how you can win a $25 gift-card to Terry’s Terrace in the gift-card giveaway! Four winners will be drawn at random.
Let’s get started and break down my birthday dinner.
My Terry’s Terrace Review
Terry’s Terrace has a great ambiance. The atmosphere at this Harrison Township is a fun one. This restaurant is often very busy and I do suggest making reservations if you do not want to wait around for a table because they do fill up fast. This restaurant is dimly lit and depending on where you sit there can be some background noise. The area around the bar is where most of the noise comes from but there are other areas of the restaurant you can be seated at that are more on the quiet side.
For those of you who have quarters in your pocket there is also an arcade at the back of this restaurant. Inside you will find some great video games and a wide variety of pinball machines.
Lobster Bisque Lobster Tacos Surf & Turf Lobster Ravioli Lobster Risotto New England Lobster Roll Lobster Tower Lobster Stuffed Cod Lobster & Crab Cakes Salmon with Lobster Cream sauce Lobster & Shrimp Penne Twin Lobster Tails
I don’t know about you but I sure can’t pass up the opportunity to have a lobster feast. When I looked at the menu at Terry’s Terrace I felt like I hit the jackpot. They have so many incredible and tempting seafood dishes to choose from! It almost seemed like an impossible task to just settle on one because I am sure they are all magnificent. So if you are a seafood lover like me, you are going to swoon over the menu here at Terry’s Terrace.
Appetizers were currently half off when we dined there on a Saturday around 4 pm. It is difficult to pass up a good appetizer at a great price so my mom ordered two plates of the crab-stuffed mushrooms. Boy were they ever awesome! The crab-stuffed mushrooms are one of the house specialties at Terry’s Terrace and for good reason… excellent appetizer! The crab-stuffed mushrooms appetizer consists of mushroom caps stuffed with real crab mix, red onions, and finished with Monterey jack cheese and a lemon to squeeze on top.
Load up on some soup and salad
My dinner included a house salad and I got that with a cup of French dressing on the side. Pretty decent salad but what I was really excited to give a whirl was Terry’s Terrace lobster bisque soup. I have a weakness for lobster bisque and whenever I see it on a menu I just have to order it. My only beef with the soup was that I wish there had just been a tab bit more in the bowl. The lobster bisque had the perfect amount of lobster meat on top of it to swirl into the soup and delight my palate. It was also served with a small piece of garlic bread on the side to dip into it. I am going to be dreaming of this soup for days. I would love another helping of this on my next visit. And the great thing about the lobster bisque is that it is a regular menu item and not just for Lobster Lover’s February.
Though I have not tried it yet and can’t speak from experience (yet), Terry’s Terrace has a clam chowder on their menu. They are known for their seafood and I’m quite certain that their clam chowder will not disappoint. I am thinking that on my next visit to Terry’s Terrace I will be trying that one out! The clam chowder is highlighted on their menu as one of their specialties so of course, you know it is going to be fabulous!
My seafood dinner, the star of the show
Because Terry’s Terrace has Lobster Lover’s February taking place this month I just had to go with a lobster dish and their lobster ravioli turned out to be such a fantastic choice. I have ordered lobster ravioli and other restaurants and have sometimes been let down because the lobster has sort of a pungent, strong taste. Terry’s Terrace lobster ravioli was everything but that. The lobster ravioli had a delicate taste and they were served with a lush white creamy champagne sauce. The lobster ravioli also included a blend of red peppers, corn, and shallots.
Another one of the lobster menu items for Lobster Lover’s February was the lobster-stuffed cod and my mother ordered that. The lobster-stuffed cod was one of the lobster menu items that I debated on ordering. I do love eating a big hunk of some meaty cod. I am including a photo of my mom’s meal here so you can see just how good this was! The cod fish was baked to perfection and topped with a great amount of lobster meat. I was a little jelly of her dinner even though I loved mine. Maybe next year for Lobster Lover’s February I will order the dish that she got.
Terry’s Terrace for kids
Terry’s Terrace also has a kids menu available. This is a great place to take your kids on Tuesdays because on Tuesdays guess what? Kids eat FREE! I am going to suggest the fish & chips for your kiddos because Terry’s Terrace has award-winning fish & chips.
next big moment in life or a birthday party with family and friends. I made a reservation, of course, because there were 15 of us. They had us seated in a separate little area of the restaurant where it was just us and we were isolated from the rest of the restaurant. It was perfect to have a room like this set aside for my large party of dinner guests.
Terry’s Terrace also provided me with a dessert on the house (no picture). It was a brownie served with vanilla ice-cream, and a big dollop of whipped cream.
Be sure to sign up for their VIP Club for some freebies and deals. They sent me a postcard before my birthday to use on my birthday dinner. I believe it was $7 off my birthday dinner (feel free to correct me if I am wrong). Unfortunately, I ended up either misplacing mine card or accidentally throwing it in the recycling bin.
Final thoughts on my Terry’s Terrace experience
My family and I had an excellent meal at this restaurant from start-to-finish! I honestly can not think of a single gripe that I had for my birthday dinner here. I believe that my family also enjoyed their experience here. The menu for Lobster Lover’s February is both impressive and delicious. I am definitely going to be going back to Terry’s Terrace next year for their lobster feast. I hope that this Terry’s Terrace review will inspire you to stop in and give it a whirl!

I have some fabulous white elephant gifts included in this gift guide from Perpetual Kid. Perpetual Kid is an online store for adults who are young and heart and love to inject some fun and humor into their lives. This is a great source of novelty gifts. Besides the food-related items here, they have way more to offer beyond that. I highly recommend checking them out because they can be a one-stop shop for all of your holiday shopping needs. Perpetual Kid has something for everyone! I have narrowed down my favorite food-related items in this Friday Faves shopping guide.
Not sure what a white elephant gift exchange is?
The white elephant is also known as a Secret Santa Gift Exchange. I prefer the term White Elephant though. The rules of the game are fairly simple. There is an excellent blog post about how to do a white elephant gift exchange.
Let’s say there are 12 people participating in the white elephant gift exchange.
Everyone participating brings a wrapped gift without a name tag on it.
You write down the numbers 1-12 on a small piece of paper and fold it up.
Everybody chooses a number.
The person with the number 1 chooses a wrapped gift.
The next person can either steal the gift that #1 had or they can choose a wrapped gift.
If person #1 has their item stolen, they choose another wrapped gift.
Player #3 either steals a gift from player 1 or 2 or can choose a wrapped gift
You can set your own rules about how many times an item can be stolen. Some people will allow an item to be stolen once, twice, or three times. It is your choice.
You continue this process until person #12 goes up to steal or choose the last wrapped gift.
Check out the gift guide, do a little shopping, and then scroll down to enter the GIVEAWAY for a $25 Perpetual Kid gift card. This giveaway is open to anyone 18+ that lives in the United States and Canada!
This “Say Cheese” Burger Mug makes for one heck of a great white elephant gift. Who wants to drink coffee out of a boring coffee cup when you can drink out of an extraordinary one like this? Perpetual Kid has a wide variety of various coffee mugs and these always make great gifts.

As a foodie and home chef, I know that anything on this gift guide would bring me some happiness and joy on Christmas day. Anything here would be the ultimate gift. I know I sure do love to spend them.
At the time of publication, this Instant Pot Duo 60 6 quart pressure cooker is on sale for $69.95! The regular price of this Instant Pot is $99.95. This little contraption is a big-time multitasker in the kitchen. It has the capabilities of a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, a warmer, and you can saute your food with it. All aboard the air fryer train! This is a must-have essential small appliance for the modern day kitchen. I love my air-fryer from NuWave. This is hands down the best way to create a healthy batch of fries for your family. Who doesn’t love fries!? Healthy fried chicken too?? That is something I can be on-board with. This NuWave air-fryer would make an excellent Christmas gift and the recipient of this gift will love you forever.
The all new Echo Show is a great addition to the home kitchen to assist with recipes and recipe videos. This Echo Show would be an excellent Christmas gift to assist the home chef that you love and adore. You can ask Alexa anything and she will most likely give you the answer. I have asked Alexa several questions while cooking and I am grateful for Alexa’s help.
The ultimate kitchen companion! Watch recipe videos, set timers, and alarms, and also add items to your shopping list. You will wonder how you ever survived without this once you have the conveniece of an Echo Show in your kitchen.
Here we have another kitchen necessity. No kitchen is complete without a good coffeemaker. The great thing about the Keurig coffeemaker is that you can brew single cups. In the morning here I start out with a full pot of coffee and have a few cups in the morning. The Keurig would be great to have when all you want is a single cup.
Cookware always makes an excellent Christmas gift. This is one thing that I feel I can never have too much of. The colors available from Rachael Ray’s line of cookware are outstanding!

I downloaded the mobile app Ibotta in 2018 I have already earned well over $440 in cashback shopping rebates. The Ibotta mobile app is very simple to use once you get the hang of it. You simply download the app, “clip” your coupons, purchase those items, take a photo of the receipt once you get home (or provide your shopper’s card and let Ibotta do all the work for you), then the scan the items purchased (the camera on your smartphone scans the items), and redeem for a cashback rebate. The approval process for earning cashback is simple and offers get approved quickly and the money goes straight into your account. Once you earn $20 you can cash-out for gift cards or Paypal. Earning that 20 bucks is simple too!
I love using the Ibotta mobile app. Not only is it a wonderful way to save money on products that you already purchase but the app also gives you an incentive to try out new products. I have come across and discovered many great new products through the app. When I give these new products a whirl through the Ibotta app, I often become a regular buyer and regular customer if I enjoy the products!
Download the Ibotta app
First things first! You need to download the app to start earning money. The app is available in both app stores: Apple and Google Play.
When you use my code mohoyyu you can get $10 instantly loaded into your account.
What can I earn?
You need to earn at least $20 to cash out. If you use the code I posted above you start out at $10 and it is very simple to earn that $20 to cash out. You can cash out to receive Paypal money (which is often sent instantly) or you can cash out and receive gift cards to various stores like Amazon, Whole Foods, Target, Ulta, Ebay, Itunes, etc. They have a very large gift-card shop where you can withdraw your money earned. I usually just go with the Paypal option so I am free to choose my earnings however I like.
Start earning money
Start earning your dollars by selecting the store that you would like to shop at and start adding those items to your account.
Ibotta mobile app example:
You can earn $1.20 cash back on each Blue Bunny Load’d Sundae Cup at Kroger. You hit the plus button to add that offer to your account. You then purchase that item at the store. Once you are home with the purchased item hit the “Redeem” button in the lower center part of the screen. Select your store, in this case, Kroger. Make sure that your receipt falls into the required dates, then capture an image with your phone’s camera of the receipt. Make sure you finalize the process by submitting the receipt.
When you take a photo of the receipt you can tap the screen to make sure the image is in focus. The photo has to contain text that is readable. If you have a long receipt you can take photos with multiple photos of the sections.
The easiest option for earning cashback at the grocery store! This is a newer Ibotta feature!
You can also load your Kroger shopper’s card to your account so you do not have to take photos of the receipt. Ibotta will automatically credit your Ibotta account with each valid purchase.

Hit the REDEEM button in the Ibotta App to take a photo of your receipt
Take a photo of your receipt to earn money with the Ibotta App. Make sure it is easy to read and in focus.
Here is an example (edit to add: this is an older example) of a great way to earn some decent money in your account. Check out the Halo Top ice-cream offer in the photo below. You can purchase up to five pints of Halo Top and earn $1.50 cash back on each pint! That comes out to $7.50 if you purchase the max limit of 5. You can also see in the Hot Offers section of this photo that Olly vitamins and supplements are a simple $2 cashback transaction.
The cashback offers section of each store is broken down into categories as you can see in the photo below (this is not a current screenshot, this is a previous example that I saved). If you select a category the relevant items available will show up that you can load onto your account.
Each store has several different offers to choose from. Some offers have a very decent payout.
What I love about Ibotta is that the cashback gives me incentive to try new things.
I have discovered several new items through discovery on the mobile app Ibotta. While browsing the offers you may see plenty of items that you do not typically purchase. Don’t feel discouraged! When I am getting cash back to try out new items and get a discount on those items, I enjoy buying them and trying them out. Often times I end up becoming a repeat customer of these new items that I found out about through Ibottta.
Here are some more examples (these are current as on May 2019)
Mobile Shopping with the mobile app Ibotta
Ibotta is not just for grocery shopping. There are many stores (Amazon, etc) where you can earn cashback by purchasing items online. With these offers, you usually receive a percentage back on the total purchase price. To earn money with mobile shopping you select the store that you are going to shop at and click through. The Ibotta mobile app tracks the purchase that you make through the link. You do not need to redeem a photo of a receipt for these offers.
Bonuses with the Ibotta mobile app
Ibotta also offers many different bonuses. Always be sure to check the app to see what bonuses are currently running. There are some simple ways to earn extra money through the bonuses.
Example: There is currently a $10.00 shopping bonus. When you make 30 eligibles shopping purchases you get a $10 bonus in your account. There is a photo of that offer below.
Bonuses do not stick around too long so it is best to check out the dates on which they are valid and be quick to earn that bonus.
Question & Answer Time!
So what do you think? Will you be signing up for the Ibotta mobile app? Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on the app. If you currently use the Ibotta app leave me a comment and share with others how much money you have earned through cash back shopping.
TGIF and I really do hope that everyone has a magical, fun-filled weekend! I am not sure yet what the weekend has in store for me. My little blogger buddy (Chloe) is heading up north in Michigan to spend two weeks with her Grandma Kathie. That gives me two fun-filled weeks of cooking and baking by myself in the kitchen. I can’t wait to see what the next two weeks have in store for me. I plan on being super duper crazy productive and make the most of it.
Do you have any fun plans this weekend? What will you be feasting upon? Anything delicious?
Yesterday and the day before were both dreary, overcast days in Michigan. I really needed a plateful of something to cheer me up. In times of need, we often turn to comfort food. Pancakes, for me, definitely fit the bill for that! I also decided to inject some color to them for added smiles! I have been opting for more gluten-free food products in my diet. I have been feeling a whole lot better both physically and mentally. I have been keeping track of my diet and I have come to the conclusion that gluten somehow affects my mood and I often feel run down and fatigued. So for now I am just doing my best to avoid it and keep my gluten intake at a minimal amount.
I am a big fan of Enjoy Life Foods products. I am currently obsessed with the dark chocolate chips and it is the only brand I buy now. They offer a line of gluten-free, vegan, products that are free from several other allergens (wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, casein, soy, egg, sesame, sulfites, lupin, mustard, fish, shellfish & crustaceans). Their products are created in an allergen-free facility. You can enjoy their foods with confidence that they will do your body good.
I tried out the Enjoy Life Foods pancake and waffle mix a couple times before and my daughter and I loved the finished product. They don’t hold up well for waffles but they do make a wonderful pancake. The taste of these pancakes was on point! I would never even know they were gluten-free because they taste just like regular pancakes.
I wanted to amp it up a bit so I swapped out the water and used Bolthouse FarmsUnsweetened Plant Protein Milk instead. An 8 oz serving of this milk is a whopping 10 grams of protein. I also used a mashed banana in the mix to add in some fiber. A banana has approximately 3 grams of fiber.
I also added some Simple Truth natural food coloring to the pancake mix. I am not a fan of artificial dyes in my food so I wanted to give this a whirl. Unfortunately, the colors are not as vibrant as the artificial ones but they are still fun to eat. Next time I make these I will experiment more with the amount I use (probably needed to use more). The batter was colorful and bright but when the pancakes were cooked the color faded. Perhaps you will have more luck with the colors!
Stack of Enjoy Life Foods natural color pancakes with rainbow sprinkles
Now let’s get busy with the recipe!
1 1/2 cups Enjoy Life Pancake & Waffle Mix
1 1/2 cups Bolthouse Farms Plant Protein Milk
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 mashed banana
Simple Truth Natural Food Color
Pure maple syrup (optional)
Candy Sprinkles (optional)
Bowls of the pancake mix with natural food color added
Simple Truth Natural Food Color
I was able to put 3 pancakes in the skillet
Prepare your batter by placing the mix, milk, and oil into the bowl and stir until no lumps remain.
Mash 1/2 of a ripe banana and then incorporate this into the mix.
Using 6 bowls, place a small amount of batter into each bowl and add food coloring to each bowl until you have red, orange (red & yellow combined), yellow, green (blue & yellow), blue, and purple (red & blue).
Warm up a tiny bit of coconut oil in a pan, just enough to give it a thin non-stick coating.
Place the batter into the skillet or griddle one color at a time. You may have to do a couple batches to get all 6 pancakes cooked. I used two large skillets simultaneously with 3 colors in each pan.
Cook the pancakes on a medium setting. Flip the pancakes when the edges are noticeably formed. After flipping continue cooking until thoroughly cooked.
Remove pancakes from pan and top with maple syrup and/or candy sprinkles. Enjoy!
